Building Stability Together: Loaida’s Fundraiser

Before I begin, I have to admit—fundraising has never been my strong suit. When my children sold chocolates for school, I would buy the whole box before I could even sell one! But today, I’m stepping out of my comfort zone because the mission of HDC Mid-Atlantic is worth it.

I’ve had the honor of serving on HDC’s Board since 2021, and I’m committed to helping expand the organization’s impact in our communities.

My “why” is simple: I believe everyone deserves access to affordable housing. A stable home creates the foundation for self-sufficiency, dignity, and opportunity. I know this firsthand. In 2001, I found myself without a place to call home. As a single mother of four, the road to stability was long and difficult. I understand what it means to have nothing.

That’s why HDC Mid-Atlantic’s mission matters so deeply to me. Being part of this organization allows me to help bridge the growing disparity in our communities and support families who are struggling to find a safe, affordable place to live. It gives me the chance to give back—because everyone deserves a place to call home.
