I work in Resident Services at HDC MidAtlantic, and every day I get to see what “home” really means.
My job is to walk alongside residents so they’re not just housed, but supported. That looks different every day. Sometimes it’s helping a senior navigate benefits so they can afford their medication. Sometimes it’s connecting a family with food resources so they don’t have to choose between paying rent and buying groceries. Other times it’s hosting a community event, an after-school program, or a workshop that helps residents build skills, friendships, and a sense of belonging.
What I love most about this work is the quiet, everyday wins that don’t always make headlines:
- A resident who was feeling isolated starts coming to community events and now has friends in the building.
- A parent who was worried about their child’s school performance gets connected to tutoring and sees their child’s confidence grow.
- A household facing a crisis gets help navigating resources and is able to stay in their home instead of being displaced.
Resident services are often the bridge between “having an apartment” and truly having stability, dignity, and hope.
That’s why I’m asking you to support HDC MidAtlantic during the ExtraGive.
Your donation helps us:
- Provide on-site support and crisis navigation for residents
- Connect people to food, healthcare, employment, and financial resources
- Offer programs that build community, reduce isolation, and support kids and seniors
- Partner with other departments and community organizations so that residents are seen, heard, and not left to figure it all out alone
When you give to HDC MidAtlantic, you’re not just giving to a building or a program—you’re investing in the lives of the people who call our communities home.
If you’re able, I hope you’ll join me in giving during the ExtraGive and help us continue this work.
Thank you for considering a gift—and for caring about our residents as much as I do.
