Aaron's Acres' Mission

Aaron’s Acres provides individuals with disabilities ages 5-21 year-round therapeutically based age-appropriate recreational programs directed by specially trained and certified staff in a supportive environment that enhances socialization and communication skills. Emotional, educational, and recreational support is offered for the entire family.

Aaron's Acres' Vision

To provide all children and young adults with disabilities opportunities to participate in the most innovative and unique social and recreational programs in an atmosphere of acceptance that embraces the child and family.

Embracing Possibilities Beyond Disabilities

Our organization was founded 26 years ago by a group of parents who set out to tackle a recurring problem they saw throughout Central PA. While children of typical ability levels were able to take part in summer camp programs, children of different ability levels were not provided the same opportunities. These parents envisioned a place where children of all ability levels could play with their peers, swim, climb, and go further than they thought possible. They imagined an environment that embraced each child's unique abilities so that they could grow socially. They dreamed of individualized attention from specially trained staff who would lead these children in therapeutically-based activities like music and fitness sessions. They founded the non-profit organization Aaron's Acres and to this day, Aaron's Acres is committed to catering to the unique needs of each child while expanding our programs to ensure that every child, regardless of ability level, is afforded the same opportunities as their peers.

What’s Happening at Aaron’s Acres

In addition to our summer camp and monthly school year program that serve ages 5-21, we now also have two adult recreational sports programs, the Aaron's Acres' Adult Sports League and the Chuckie Magee Flag Football & Cheerleading League. These two programs are offered for participants ages 18-40 with disabilities.  We have also recently added a family cooking class to provide the opportunity for participants ages 13-21 to explore the kitchen, try new recipes, and enjoy getting to know one another while having the meals they created together!

We have also started an art class for ages 13-21 and will soon begin an extension of our Aaron’s Acres Acts of Kindness program called Kindness Connections where our older participants (those who have graduated high school) give back to our local community.  We are very excited to be able to provide these new opportunities for meaningful connections and experiences for our program participants! Our mission is able to continue – and expand – because of the support of our community.  Thank you for your consideration and for believing in what we’re doing at Aaron’s Acres!
