Celebrating more than 30 Years and over $1,000,000 in grants to Hempfield School District teachers & staff!

Established in 1993, the Hempfield Foundation is dedicated to promoting and enhancing excellence in education across the Hempfield School District—at all grade levels, in all school buildings. We are a separate, not-for-profit organization that awards grants to Hempfield teachers and staff for initiatives that enrich not only the academic curriculum, but also the arts and athletic experiences of Hempfield students. With these grants our teachers are able to leverage creative, research-based ideas to help their students learn, create, and compete.

Recent Hempfield Foundation grants provided finding for...

• Elementary grief bags that contain tools, activities, and resources for grieving HSD students and families
• The revitalization of the Centerville Middle School student reward lounge
• Audio visual equipment for concerts and events at East Petersburg Elementary School
• An elevated FasTrak racetrack for the newly required 8th Grade Applying Technology Class to guarantee accurate times and allow for data collection
• Refrigerator magnets to improve school attendance by making it easier for families to communicate absences quickly and efficiently
• A trip to Dutch Apple Dinner Theater for Hempfield High School students to watch Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Jr.
• One Book, One School events for all elementary schools along with both middle schools
• A virtual author visit with Peter Brown Studio, author of "The Wild Robot" and "The Wild Robot Protects"
• A "Zen Zone" to help middle school students who receive emotional support services in special education self-regulate
• A podcast production studio in the high school library, enabling students to tap into the power of storytelling to articulate their learning

Also, a portion of the monies raised through ExtraGive is used to fund the annual Hempfield School District staff appreciation event we hold each year.
