There's a lot happening at the Loft. We are currently serving over 400 families at our food pantry every week. Due to the government shutdown, we are really feeling a strain right now — but together, we can work to ensure that people stay fed, farms stay connected to food pantries, and our systems of support remain strong.

Our three clothing banks have seen an uptick in activity due to seasonal needs. Our furniture bank has delivered a lot of furniture to families in transition. In the past year, we provided 9 Family Compassion Fund grants to help families avoid eviction.

In March, we purchased the old LEMSA building to create our new permanent home - the Loft Community Resource Facility. It will house an expanded food pantry that will be set up like a grocery store. It will include dry & cold storage plus space for paper goods, toiletries and household cleaning products.

The facility will also house a clothing bank, multipurpose room and office space for staff and volunteers. My favorite spaces will be the Loft Community Kitchen where we can teach cooking classes & demonstrations and the greenhouse & garden where we can educate our neighbors on growing & preserving food.
