Jackson Houston: Faith and Education for Lancaster

In late July of 2025, while clerking for a judge at the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas, I stepped out of the courtroom to find a voicemail from a familiar voice, my former theology teacher, Kathy Alton (Stengel). In her message, she said, "I know this sounds like Mrs. Alton but it is the Holy Spirit calling," and asked if I would consider a change of career to return to Sacred Heart and help ensure that future generations could receive a Catholic education in Lancaster City.

The moment I finished listening, I knew exactly what God was calling me to do.

Sacred Heart is where my faith was formed, where I learned service, and where the foundation of my character was built. I am proud to be a 2010 graduate of Sacred Heart School, and returning, not as a student but as someone entrusted with sustaining that mission, felt like coming home.

Now, as Advancement Director, I am grateful every day for the chance to give back to the community that gave me so much and to help open the doors of Catholic education to every child who needs it.
