Beyond Acceptance - Brittany

Before Attollo, I had a few friends and I was somewhat social, but I never really knew where I fit in. When I first got accepted into Attollo, I honestly had no clue what it even was. No one had talked about it, and as a junior, I knew that year was serious because it could impact my college future. Watching the seniors seem like they had everything together made me nervous — I didn’t know what to do, where to start, or where to find the support I needed.

When Attollo started, I was scared. I wasn’t used to working together with people at school, and I was afraid of getting comfortable just for people to switch up outside the program. But Attollo proved me wrong. Everyone kept the same energy in and out of the program, and that helped me feel welcomed, comfortable, and able to be myself around everyone.

One of the biggest blessings I found in Attollo was my mentors. They’re always just a text away — whether it’s something personal, school-related, or even just plans to hang out. They’ve taught me so much and have been there for me in ways I didn’t expect, and it made me realize how supported I truly am.

As I became a Scholar, I joined programs like Pre-Law, SAT Prep, 8-Count, A-Fit, and LatinXcellence — a space where Hispanic students come together to talk about our culture, heritage, and what it means to be Latina. Through Attollo, I built so many connections in universities, my community, and even around the country. I became friends with people from different schools across Lancaster County — people I never imagined I’d be close to — and I’m so grateful for all of it.

On the college tours, I got to explore Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida. Before Attollo, the furthest I thought I’d ever go for college was NC. But after those trips, I’m planning to finish my last two years in Florida — a place I never pictured myself because I hate the heat. But Attollo opened my mind to new experiences, new opportunities, and a future I’m excited to grow into.

Attollo has given me confidence, community, guidance, and genuine support, and it’s helped me become someone who feels seen, valued, and understood beyond acceptance.
