A Place for Connection, Friendship, and Joy

When I first moved to Adamstown, I thought of the library as simply a place for books. What I discovered was so much more a place alive with community workshops, book clubs, children’s programs, even passports!

But the real magic of the Adamstown Area Library came to life for me through my mom.

After my father passed away, my mom, Deb, was starting over in a new town. She was always a reader, so visiting the library felt natural. What she didn’t expect was to find friendship. With a little encouragement (and my aunt by her side as a “wing woman”), she joined the Young at Heart program. That’s where she met Diana a friend who turned out to be a true gift.

It’s not easy to make new friends as an adult. But through crafts, cookie exchanges, and laughter-filled afternoons at the library, my mom found connection, joy, and belonging at a time she needed it most. When my aunt moved away, her friendship with Diana became even more important.

I will always be grateful that the library gave my mom not just books, but companionship and happiness.

That’s why I serve on the board today and why I’m asking for your help.

Your donation to the Adamstown Area Library makes stories like my mom’s possible. It creates spaces where people can learn, grow, and most importantly, connect.

Please consider a gift today in honor of a friend, a loved one, or someone who has made a difference in your life.

Together, we can keep the library a place where friendships are formed, lives are enriched, and joy is found.
