TLC’s building, located at 105 E. King St., Lancaster PA., is a hotel constructed in 1910 that requires complete rehabilitation to continue offering safe, private, temporary housing for families, veterans, and others facing homelessness.TLC houses the Veterans’ Victory House (VVH), a dedicated program for veterans within its premises. Currently, there are 52 hotel-style rooms, each equipped with private bathrooms. Every household enjoys its own private room, allowing families with children and adult couples to stay together. This setup enables TLC to accommodate all types of households.Since 1987, this building has served this purpose and has been a program of Tenfold since 2004.

THE PROJECT Tenfold aims to commence construction on this significant project in the first half of 2025. The anticipated duration for the project is between 10 to 12 months.

Key priorities include

  • Enhancing accessibility,
  • Removing the risk of exposure to outdated lead-based paint,
  • Upgrading all the aging utility systems and plumbing fixtures,
  • Fostering a more trauma-informed environment,
  • Improving overall safety.

The plans involve:

  • Adding a second stair tower,
  • Replacing the small elevator that is over 90 years old with two larger ones,
  • Ensuring street-level access with an indoor ramp for strollers and individuals with accessibility needs, among other features.

Once completed, TLC will offer 46 rooms, including some larger accommodations, and will expand its ADA accessible rooms from 2 to 6.
