Schreiber has been part of our daughter Cora’s life since her preschool years. When she first began therapy, we wanted her to develop the physical abilities to walk and care for herself independently.
Cora used a reverse walker in preschool and took her first independent steps at four. She watched her twin sister learn skills before her, and so many everyday tasks were harder for her. But she worked diligently at everything her therapists asked her to do.
Over the years, the skills Cora practiced in therapy have become part of her everyday life. We’ve watched her go from taking those first steps without a walker to skiing with her dad and joining her siblings for backyard volleyball. Those moments mean so much because we know the work it took to get there.
Schreiber has also given Cora opportunities to enjoy being herself through Camp Schreiber and playing music with the UnSinkables. She has grown in confidence as well as ability. Now she’s looking at colleges and wants to study special education.
For our family, Schreiber’s impact is in the things Cora can do and the things she can be part of. It’s watching her keep moving toward the independent life we hoped for when she was little.
This ExtraGive, we’re raising money for Schreiber because of the difference it has made in Cora’s life. Please consider making a donation through our family’s fundraiser on November 20 to help other kids get the support Cora has had.
Thank you for supporting a place that has meant so much to our family.
