At the Lancaster County Community Foundation, we believe philanthropy is for everyone. By connecting philanthropists from all walks of life to organizations and initiatives on the frontlines of impact, we harness the power of endowment to help shape a Lancaster County where everyone is valued, feels a sense of belonging, and has the opportunity to thrive.
As the hosts of ExtraGive, we are honored to bring the community together to celebrate generosity and shine a light on the work of hundreds of local organizations working on the frontlines to serve neighbors, care for animals, protect our greenspaces and historical heritage, provide access to education, and so much more.
Since we launched the first ExtraGive in 2012, 40,000 donors have raised over $110 million for more than 500 organizations. Donations per capita in Lancaster County are among the most generous in the nation, and it's all thanks to the dedication of participating organizations, members of this community, and sponsors who help stretch every dollar that is donated. The Community Foundation continues to be ExtraGive's largest contributor and has never taken a penny from this free event.
Organizations participating in ExtraGive must meet these criteria to participate:
While organizations must meet the above criteria to participate, the Community Foundation does not screen or select organizations based on their charitable purposes or mission. Therefore, approval of an organization's participation does not constitute an endorsement of the organization or its mission the the Community Foundation or any of its partners. Each organization's page provides its specific mission, but not necessarily detailed information on all its programs. For your additional research, each organization's page includes a link to its website to provide more detail on programs and use of funds.
