One Campfire at a Time

For over 60 years Woodcrest Retreat has provided a sanctuary from the busyness of life. The ministry has grown over those years, but our passion and focus has remained the same--providing a space for people to experience the wonder of God. The heart of Woodcrest is our eight weeks of summer camp. This past summer we reached nearly 2,000 campers, many of those children came from vulnerable and underserved communities. In fact, we have experienced a 30% increase in camper attendance since 2020.  Parents understand the value of getting their children out into creation and having them surrounded by caring individuals who love children and love God. Something amazing happens at camp and around the campfire.

At Woodcrest we are committed to making sure that everyone has access to the power of camp. We never want finances to be a factor in keeping a child from experiencing the hope and happiness that comes from spending time at a Christian camp. In addition to offering over $17,000 in camper scholarships and partnering with local youth programs, every camper fee is intentionally 25% lower than actual costs.  That means that we rely on our donors and community to help bridge an $82,000 annual shortfall.  The Extra Give is one means for us to connect with our community.

In every aspect of our ministry, we provide a place where people can be introduced to Jesus Christ and be encouraged in their Christian growth. We do this through programs and partnerships that emphasize creation and community.
