Greystone Manor Therapeutic Riding Center has transformed lives since 1981 by providing equine-assisted services to individuals with special needs in Lancaster. Our program continues to grow, offering horsemanship lessons and group programs designed to meet each individual's personal needs. Everyone with intellectual, physical, or emotional challenges deserves the rewarding experience of interacting with horses. Our program creates special bonds, builds self-esteem, and fosters mobility for a multitude of participants.

Therapeutic horsemanship offers a holistic approach to personal growth and development. Through interactions with horses, participants experience physical improvements such as increased strength, balance, coordination, and flexibility. This intervention also provides intellectual benefits, such as enhancing decision-making, problem-solving, and concentration. Participants often experience reduced stress, anxiety, and depression while gaining empowerment, confidence, and self-esteem.

The bond between a student and their horse fosters emotional connections and provides a sense of companionship and trust. In this supportive environment, participants can experience success, leading to increased empathy and a sense of empowerment.

Each week, Greystone Manor Therapeutic Riding Center provides horsemanship lessons to more than 50 students, with many more lives touched through our wider programs. Still, more than 100 individuals remain on our waiting list. We’re committed to expanding our capacity - doubling our program's capacity so we can welcome every rider who is waiting for their turn.

Expanding our program to accommodate the waiting list is crucial for several reasons.

  • It allows us to benefit many individuals who could greatly benefit from our services.
  • Eliminating the waiting list can ensure that those in need receive timely access to our programs, leading to improved physical, intellectual, and emotional well-being.
  • Expanding will enhance our inclusivity and align with our mission to make programs accessible to all who can benefit.

Please consider donating during the Extra Give. Since 1981, our program has transformed lives by providing equine-assisted services to individuals with special needs and at-risk populations in Lancaster.

We are dedicated to growing our program by hiring more program staff, adding additional horses, and upgrading our facility to meet 21st-century needs. With your support, we aim to make horses accessible to all who can benefit. Thank you for considering our funding needs, and we look forward to your continued support in advancing our impactful program.

Thank you for your support!
