60 Years Stronger, Together. Our Next Chapter Starts with You.

In 1966, local leaders in Lancaster County founded Community Action Partnership (CAP) on a simple belief: poverty is unacceptable, and everyone deserves the opportunity to shape their future. Today, CAP is one of Lancaster County’s largest anti-poverty organizations, working alongside families at every stage of life, from a baby’s first days to a family’s search for stability.

Who We Are

For 60 years, CAP has helped Lancaster County families build stronger, healthier, more resilient lives. Because poverty is complex and looks different for every family, we offer person-centered support. We measure our results, use data to guide our work, and connect everyone who comes to us with the resources that fit their needs on the path to stability and prosperity.

How You Can Help

Today, CAP offers programs that make are making a crucial difference for all neighbors across Lancaster County. Some of our programs include:

  • Utility assistance to keep families housed and the lights on
  • Domestic violence services: safety, counseling, and legal support
  • Early education classrooms and an Early Learning Resource Center with child care support and subsidies
  • Crispus Attucks Community Center: an anchor for Southeast Lancaster, building community and honoring BIPOC history
  • Food access: countywide food distribution to 37 pantries, mobile farmers market, community meals, and the Choice Food Pantry
  • WIC: nutrition and breastfeeding support for young parents and infants
  • RISE: case management, stability funds, and referrals during crisis
  • Home visiting to support parents as their child’s first teacher
