Capital Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) works with farmers, landowners, agency and non-profit partners in Lancaster and six other counties in the lower Susquehanna region. Since the early 2000’s Capital RC&D projects have benefited soil health, clean water, and local economic initiatives in the region. Our work in Lancaster County includes local food marketing and farmers market support, stream bank redevelopment and riparian buffer planting, and support for farmers implementing grazing practices.
In early 2025, Capital RC&D will begin verifying and implementing conservation practices on farms in Lancaster; expanding work currently being completed in other regional counties. We’re excited to collaborate with local partners to support Lancaster county farmers. Also, Capital RC&D surveys land in Lancaster County to account for agricultural practices that support Chesapeake Bay water quality and reports this data to the state for current Bay crediting.
