Water Street Mission

A nonprofit organization

At Water Street Mission, we’re all about restoration.

Every day, we welcome men, women, and children who are navigating some of the hardest seasons of their lives—homelessness, addiction, trauma, broken relationships. And while we meet real needs like shelter, meals, and medical care, that’s just the beginning. We offer more than help—we walk with people toward healing and lasting change.

 Our Mission:
In response to Christ's love, we join with His mission to walk with our neighbors who are experiencing marginalization and poverty, trusting Him to transform lives and restore hope.

Here’s a quick look at how we serve our community:

Emergency Shelter and Residential Program
Meeting basic needs and helping individuals and families experiencing temporary homelessness through our emergency shelter and residential program. Nearly 600 men, women, and children stay with us each year, averaging 170 people per night.

Water Street Health Services
Providing care for low-income and uninsured individuals and families through our medical, dental, and behavioral health clinics. We conduct over 2,400 medical visits and more than 500 dental visits each year on average.

Wonder Academy
Helping Pre-K and Kindergarten children from low-income families learn to love God, love learning, and love people.
50+ students served each school year.

Teen Haven
Providing youth in Lancaster City a safe environment, training in leadership skills, and spiritual direction.
390
+ students in elementary, middle, and high school reached through after-school programs, outreach, and events each year.

Compass
Coming alongside nearly 100 young adults each year in Lancaster City and providing them with tools and opportunities
for success spiritually, academically, and vocationally.

Outreach Center
Supplying basic food necessities for thousands of families in our community.  Through the Outreach Center,
we’re not just addressing hunger, we’re building relationships and creating a stronger, more connected community.

Who We Are

Since 1905, Water Street Mission has provided an environment of dignity, hope, and healing for Lancaster County’s at-risk men, women, and children. From walking with those facing homelessness, hunger, and illness to mentoring kids, teens, and young adults, our heart is for personalized restoration—meeting each person where they are and helping them take the next step forward. And as lives are restored, that restoration ripples outward—bringing renewal to families, neighborhoods, and the broader Lancaster community.
