The Montessori Academy of Lancaster

Maria Montessori started this educational philosophy over 100 years ago and it still holds true today! Self-directed inquiry builds a love of learning. Educating the whole child and nurturing the instinctive nature to explore and understand our world is the foundation of natural learners. At our school, each child is given the space to explore and learn by touching, seeing, smelling and using all of their senses to create and define their world and the world around them. Social and cultural lessons help them develop a strong sense of personal responsibility and community. Music, art and movement are all part of our daily routine but we also have special activities like Chess and Doll clubs to help our children expand on social skills and explore their interests, knowledge and talents! As they progress through the programs, working cooperatively with multi-age groups, these students become inventors, artists, communicators, and global community ambassadors in the elementary years.

As we celebrate more than 40 years as a school in the Manheim Township and Lancaster County communities, we continue to bring peace education to our students and a collaborative, supportive educational practice to our families. We couldn't be more proud of our graduates who often come back to visit us. This priceless style of learning is not always available to the students who might need it the most and donations help the Montessori Academy provide needs-based scholarships as well as support services, and additional resources that cannot be funded through public funds. We believe in our programs, our staff, our students and our community. We appreciate the difference you can make so we can make a difference. Thank you!
