The TerraClear Foundation began as a vision to bring clean, safe drinking water to the people of Laos. Headquartered in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, our mission is supported by donors and volunteers from the Lancaster community and beyond, all working together to make a global impact.

Our commitment to increasing affordable access to clean water in Laos stems from our belief that clean drinking water is a basic human right and an essential building block for health and development. Through innovative water solutions and educational programs, our goal is to enhance the well-being of underserved communities—especially children, who are most vulnerable to the harmful effects of water scarcity.

Our work is carried out in partnership with TerraClear Production, a social enterprise in Laos that manufactures and distributes ceramic water filters to rural communities. While many families are able to purchase these filters at a reasonable price, about 20% of the population cannot afford even this. To bridge this gap, TerraClear Foundation provides subsidies, ensuring that the poorest families can also access safe drinking water.

In addition to providing clean water, each donated filter has a positive environmental impact. By reducing the need to boil water, each filter saves over 1.3 tons of wood per year, significantly lowering carbon emissions and contributing to a healthier planet.
