Founded in 2012 by Janine Guido, Speranza Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and sanctuary located on a 17-acre farm in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Entirely volunteer-run and donation-funded, Speranza is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of the most abused, neglected, and misunderstood animals.
"Speranza," meaning hope in Italian, reflects our mission to give second chances to animals who have suffered greatly. While we are an all-breed rescue, we specialize in pit bulls and other bully breeds—offering them a safe haven, time to heal, and the opportunity to find loving forever homes.

Our Mission
At Speranza Animal Rescue, our mission is to save the most abused, neglected, and misunderstood animals—providing them with the care, compassion, and second chances they deserve. We are committed to rescuing animals from situations of severe cruelty, abandonment, and hardship, and to giving each one the opportunity to heal physically and emotionally.
Through dedicated rehabilitation, personalized care, and comprehensive adoption efforts, our goal is to place as many animals as possible into safe, loving, and permanent homes. For those who may never be adoptable due to medical or behavioral challenges, we offer lifelong sanctuary on our 17-acre farm in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Guided by the belief that every animal's life has value, we work tirelessly to be a voice for the voiceless—driven by hope, compassion, and the unwavering belief in second chances.
