This non-profit foundation was established by the Mountville Welfare Association to implement projects of benefit to the community (that are not administered by other non-profit organizations). The Mountville Community Services Foundation was given funds to buy the land on the west side of Mountville for Froelich Park, and to build the community swimming pool and the ball park.
Who We Are
Mountville Community Services Foundation (Owner and Operator of Froelich Park) is a “Non-Profit” Corporation registered with the Pennsylvania Department of State, Corporation Bureau in response to application of August 18, 1981; and is also a 501(c)(3) organization approved by the IRS effective June 14, 1982.
Froelich Park is located at 350 W. Main St., Mountville, PA 17554
The Mountville Community Services Foundation Board of Directors is staffed by 9 non-paid volunteers elected to staggered three (3) year terms and are guided by the organizations By-Laws with assistance of appropriate polices and rules. The Board meets regularly at 7:00pm on the fourth Wednesday of the month to manage the business of the park and unless changed, all Board meetings are held in the upstairs meeting room of the Field House located at Froelich Park. Sub Committee groups of the Board meet as needed for their particular purpose. There are six (6) Sub-Committees: Finance; Facilities; Fundraising; Membership/Social; Policy; and Pool.
How does Froelich Park impact & benefit the community of Mountville?
Today Froelich Park is ~29 acres providing to the community the following:

OPEN GREEN SPACE,
- used for family picnics, pickup games, annual Fireworks show and annual Mountville Days Carnival. Green space on the south side of the creek is used for open green space and overflow parking for events.

MULTIPLE SIZED BASEBALL FIELDS WITH SCORE BOARDS WITH LIGHTS AND BLEACHERS:
- ~130 baseball players in the MYAA organization. Also used by the Gainer-Race Memorial Softball Tournament (formerly known as the Schreiber Pediatric Center tournament) for their annual weekend fundraising softball tournament.

A FOOTBALL FIELD WITH SCORE BOARD WITH LIGHTS AND BLEACHERS:
- ~100 football players and ~60 cheerleaders in the MYAA organization

A PAVED 1.2 MILE WALKING PATH INCLUDING RESTING BENCHES LOCATED ALONG THE PATH:
- There are countless number of walkers every day

SEVERAL SMALL PICNIC TABLE SIZE PAVILIONS:
- Multiple people stop by the park during their lunch break to eat their lunch either in their car or sitting at one of the small picnic table pavilions or just picnicking in the grass

A SWIMMING POOL PROVIDED FOR USE BY THE COMMUNITY (We are NOT a private membership club):
- full season passes available for purchase as well as daily walk-in purchase by the public
- 2024 season passes = 358 Adults, 418 children, 137 seniors, 18 military with walk-in's for the season of about 5000.
- multiple special events held for groups such as Hempfield, Donegal, School Band socials, Mountville Fire Company member training and social, Boy Scout Swimming water rescue merit badge and Life Guard training, as well as other special needs groups.
- Home base for the Mountville Swim Team “The Black Marlins” with ~70 members of all ages that hold daily practice, regular swim meets and invitational swim tournaments with multiple teams in attendance

TWO PARKING LOTS:
- used to park cars during events
- used for the annual Mountville Days Carnival with estimated attendance for 2024 to be between 10 and 12 thousand people over the four-day event
- used for multiple vendor events held thru-out the year

A SMALL STORAGE GARAGE:
- Used by the MYAA to store ball field prep equipment

A FULL-SIZE BARN USED BY MULITPLE COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS FOR STORAGE:
- Used by the MCSF, MYAA, Mountville Fire Department, Mountville Lions Club

A TWO-STORY FIELD HOUSE:
- Complete with meeting room, rest rooms, concession stand and press box used for home football games.

A Gazebo:
- used by those wishing to sit in the shade and watch the activity at the park or to have personal reflection time.

An Official Flag Retirement area:
- used by groups (Scouts) to provide formal retirement ceremonies for worn/damaged US Flags.
