Helping Hands for Animals was established in 1993 to address the pet overpopulation problem and to promote education and awareness of prominent animal issues. We started with a reduced rate spay/neuter program with the surgeries conducted at other facilities. Seeing increased needs, in 2014 we launched an in-house spay/neuter clinic dedicated to community cats and pet cats. Every cat brought to us is spayed or neutered, given vaccines for rabies and FVRCP (distemper) and treated with Revolution (for fleas, roundworm/hookworms and ear mites). If the cat is a community cat or an outdoor pet cat, it is also ear-tipped for identification as a fixed cat.
For 32 years, we have educated the public and assisted with population management of community cat colonies through TVNR (Trap, Vaccinate, Neuter & Return). If not managed, cat colonies can grow rapidly. One breeding pair can potentially produce over 420,000 cats in seven years if unspayed/unneutered. TVNR can prevent this and it can improve the health of the colony. With the help of caring people to provide food, safe surroundings, and to keep a watchful eye for any possible problems, cats in the colony can live contentedly for many years.
In 2024, Helping Hands for Animals spayed/neutered 5,383 cats. This is an increase of 1,069 (or 25%) over 2023. Year to date November 20, 2025 we have spayed/neutered 5,736 cats.
Helping Hands for Animals is fully dependent on your support and contributions to help us achieve these goals. We are not affiliated with any other animal organization and do not receive any funding from local, state or federal government agencies. Your contribution is devoted entirely to helping needy animals.
Helping Hands for Animals seeks volunteer veterinarians and technicians to help support our mission. Your support allows us to accomplish more for our community, achieve our goals and provide the best possible care to our feline patients.
Thanks to the generosity of Jean Charles, the first 10 donations of $50 will be matched!
On behalf of the entire Helping Hands community, thank you for participating in ExtraGive and for considering this opportunity to help our cause in a critically important way.
At Helping Hands for Animals, our mission is to reduce pet overpopulation and promote compassionate care through accessible spay/neuter services, public education, and community engagement. Since 1993, we have been committed to improving the lives of cats—both pets and community cats—by providing affordable sterilization, essential vaccinations, and parasite treatment. Through our in-house clinic and Trap, Vaccinate, Neuter & Return (TVNR) program, we empower individuals and neighborhoods to manage cat colonies humanely and sustainably. We believe that with knowledge, kindness, and proactive care, every cat can live a healthier, safer, and more dignified life.
