Helping Hands for Animals was founded in 1993 to address the pet overpopulation problem and to promote education and awareness of prominent animal issues. We started with a reduced rate spay/neuter program with surgeries done at other facilities. Due to increasing needs, in 2014 we launched an in-house spay/neuter clinic dedicated to community cats and pet cats.
In 2025, Helping Hands for Animals spayed/neutered 6,370 cats. This is an increase of 987 (or 18%) over 2024. Year to date October 1, 2026 we have spayed/neutered 4,684 cats.
Every cat brought to us is spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies and FVRCP (distemper) and treated with Revolution (for fleas, roundworm/hookworms and ear mites). If the cat is a community cat or an outdoor pet cat, it is also given an ear tip, the universal identification of a fixed cat.
For 33 years, we have educated the public and assisted with population management of community cat colonies through TVNR (Trap, Vaccinate, Neuter & Return). If not managed, cat colonies can grow rapidly. One unfixed breeding pair can potentially produce over 420,000 cats in seven years. TVNR not only prevents this, it can improve the health of the colony. With the help of caring people to provide food, safe surroundings, and to monitor for any possible health problems, cats in the colony can live contentedly for many years.
Helping Hands for Animals is completely dependent on your support and contributions to help us achieve these goals. We are not affiliated with any other animal organization and do not receive any governmental agency funding. Every penny of your contribution goes entirely to helping needy animals.
