DO: North Country Mission Trip
$830 Raised
Since prior to 1721, the family of Donegal Presbyterian Church in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania has striven to live the faith of Jesus Christ in their community and beyond by sharing God's love to all people.
Founded prior to 1721, Donegal Presbyterian Church has been rich in both history and mission. Throughout its history, the congregation has met weekly for worship and has strived to fulfill Christ's command to love both God and their neighbor. Our roots run deep within the surrounding communities as our members actively serve others through local service and outreach organizations, loving our neighbors as much as we love our fellow congregants.
Our Donegal Outreach Team (DOT) is an active, mission-based team reaching into the local community to provide assistance to those in need of basic necessities. The team responds to unexpected emergencies and has established a number of community partners with whom they have a strong network.
Newly created is a Community Garden on the grounds of Donegal Church that provides fresh produce to the food insecure by partnering with the organization, "Friends of Donegal". Hundreds of pounds of fresh vegetables were harvested and donated from the garden plot this past summer.
Also this summer, a team of DOT members prepared meals for the "Columbia Dream Center", which serves the Columbia community and the surrounding area through food, shelter, clothing, and other resources. In July 2024 alone, 5,600 lunches were prepared as well as 1,000 shelter meals. The DOT team also coordinates members' donations of coats, sneakers, underwear, and socks for the Center.
Our new partnership with "Servants" has enabled volunteers from the congregation to assist with service opportunities, such as providing critical home repairs, demonstrating Christ's love and ensuring safe and affordable housing for all, particularly older adults and people with disabilities.
Partnering with "Eizabethtown Community Housing and Outreach Services" our volunteers help to provided those in need of shelter with lunches, dinners, and volunteer help.
Through "Church World Services" vetted refugees receive church members' donations of supplies for newcomers in need of items for their homes.
Our newest partner is the "Lancaster County Veteran’s Court". Donations from Donegal's benefit concert raised $1000 to support their efforts to provide participants with an opportunity to pursue appropriate treatment, while productively addressing associated legal problems. Volunteers also provide necessary assistance to veterans in need of services.
Local food banks are also recipients of the Outreach Team’s efforts with food supplies and volunteer workers.
