                                                          ONE SCHOOL - ONE BOOK

During the last school year, students and families across the Columbia Borough School District came together through the One School, One Book initiative, a program that promotes literacy while strengthening the connection between home and school.  At Columbia Middle School-Taylor Campus, students enjoyed Rump.  The (Fairly) True Tale of Rumpelstiltskin by Liesl Shurtliff, while Park Elementary readers followed Gavin's adventures in Dog Days by Karen English.  Families were encouraged to read together, creating meaningful conversations and shared experiences beyond the classroom.  By engaging entire school communities in a common story, One School, One Book transforms reading into a district-wide celebration. Throughout the spring, students participated in activities, discussions and special events that brought each book to life and deepened their connection to the characters, themes and lessons.  The program gave families a unique opportunity to support reading development while spending quality time together.  The success of this initiative reflects the district's ongoing commitment to fostering a culture of literacy, learning, and community while inspiring a lifelong love for reading.  Funding for this program was made possible by the Columbia Education Foundation and donations via the ExtraGive campaign.  Plans are already in place for continuing this into the new school year.

Who We Are

Learning should not have limits.  Unfortunately, it can be challenged by time, resources, tools and funding.  Enter the Columbia Education Foundation.  The Columbia "Crimson Tide" Education Foundation is a non-profit volunteer organization whose purpose is to procure funding through grants, individual and corporate donations, and tax-credit opportunities to support creative and innovative education strategies for students beyond what the school district's budget can provide. Together, with support from the community, we believe we are making a difference for the future of our students and their education. ROLL TIDE ROLL!
