When visitors drive into the parking lot of BASE, , they are welcomed by the
"Wall of Wisdom", a barrage of quotes, meant to inspire, offer hope and uplift.

B,A,S,E, (Building And Supporting Entrepreneurship of Southeast Lancaster), is a non-profit 501 (c3), with offices at 447 S. Prince St., Lancaster.

BASE manages the city's first Small
Business Incubator, providing afforda- ble leasing and FREE support services, to small businesses and start-ups. Founded by a small, diverse group of
local African-American men (Uptown
Economic Development Corp.,) with a
desire to make a difference in an under-
erved community, the men would pool their resources for almost a decade...,
study a plan..., renovate the current site on Prince St, , and in 1996, open
Lancaster's first Business Incubator-.
celebrating a history of opening doors of opportunity for people of color and for other aspiring entrepreneurs.

BASE is also known for its Award-winn- ing "Housing Counseling Program" , offering FREE services to homeowners, renters, and prospective home buyers. Our HUD Certified Counselors are specially trained to assist individuals in making responsible choices, to address their housing needs. Services include apartment locater counseling, foreclo- sure prevention, budget and credit counseling and Pre-Purchase and Pre-closing counseling. BASE has received "Best Agency" and "Best Counselor" distinctions, from PHFA. . e

Opening the doors to Opportunity". That was the goal over 25 years ago. And despite challenges, Base never gives up-on trying to make a difference. Something of what "The Wall of Wisdom" teaches us!!!
