Founded in 1985 by adoptee Maxine Chalker, AFTH was built on the belief that every voice matters and that compassionate, lifelong support creates stronger outcomes for everyone involved.

Today, AFTH provides free and low-cost counseling, education, support groups, financial assistance, scholarships, and other essential resources that help expecting and birth parents navigate some of life's most challenging moments with dignity and hope.

Expecting & Birth Parent Support Fund

No parent should have to choose between paying for groceries, getting to work, or meeting another basic need during a difficult time. This fund provides emergency assistance for essentials such as food, transportation, clothing, baby items, housing-related needs, and other critical expenses. Offering stability when it's needed most.

Birth Parent Scholarship Fund

Many birth parents dream of continuing their education or learning a trade but lack the financial resources to do so. Scholarships help cover tuition for trade schools, certification programs, undergraduate degrees, and graduate studies, empowering birth parents to build brighter futures for themselves and their families.
