The Salvation Army - Lancaster

A nonprofit organization

The need this year is greater than ever!!!

Hello, we are The Salvation Army.

For the last 130 years, The Salvation Army Lancaster has been working to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the downtrodden in the Lancaster community.

Most people know us for the Red Kettle and ringing the bells at Christmas or our thrift stores.

However, we are so much more!!

The Salvation Army has experienced (like everyone else) the challenges of navigating our services to our community post- COVID-19 pandemic and increased inflation.

With your help, we can continue to provide the following programs...

CHRISTMAS TOYS - Helping Lancaster families in need to get Christmas dinner and brand-new toys for every child.

  • This year over 2500 families coming to our doors for a food gift card to help get Christmas dinner, and brand-new toys for their children.
  • COATS FOR KIDS - a program that distributes coats, scarves, hats, and gloves to 2000 + of Lancaster's children and adults to protection from the freezing weather.
  • THE PATHWAY OF HOPE INITIATIVE - This program puts an end to intergenerational poverty by helping families down a path toward increased stability and self-sufficiency.
  • FAMILY SERVICES PROGRAM - has provided over 20,000 meals to over 10,000 persons this year. We have been able to help with rent and utility assistance ($85,000 to 190 families) and other important provisions to help those in need in the Lancaster community.
  • COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP - this year we were able to help 18 high-school students to go to college, and support them along their journey.
  • NEW BEGINNINGS PROGRAM - we provide 21 housing units and comprehensive services to men who have completed our drug and alcohol rehabilitation program.
  • COMMUNITY OUTREACH - Residents of nursing/boarding homes continued to be offered physical and spiritual support through visitation, food donations, prayer, and special gifts for Christmas and Easter.

Why do we do this? It's simple. We believe everyone is part of the family, and we are dedicated to building a community where everyone is given the opportunity to live a better life. We want to be a church for you to grow in,  a community for you to belong to, and a charity for you to turn to.

We are so much more than a kettle and a store.

We are The Salvation Army. Nice to meet you.

Will you support our programs this year?

You make good things happen.
