Our Story — From Heartbreak to Hope

Jennifer Cahill (1974–2022) proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1995–1999. In 2020, she faced a battle no one could prepare for: Stage IV cancer. As her family prepared to say goodbye, they discovered the VA burial benefits they expected would not cover her final expenses. Their community stepped forward when they needed help most.

Jennifer's story was not unique. Other women Veterans and families faced similar hardships, unanswered questions, and unexpected burdens.

From one family's heartbreak came a promise: No woman Veteran should face life's hardest battles alone.

That promise became Team Jennifer Cahill Charities — turning Jennifer's legacy into compassion, advocacy, and hope for women Veterans.

What We Do

Final Expense Education & Planning

• Help women Veterans and families understand VA burial benefits and avoid unexpected financial burdens.

• Provide qualifying final-expense assistance when available, easing the burden on grieving families.

• Support advance planning for women Veterans facing terminal cancer, bringing dignity, reassurance, and peace of mind.

MST, Homelessness & Suicide Awareness

• Recognize the lasting impact of Military Sexual Trauma (MST), including isolation, distrust, and suicide risk.

• 45% of women veteran suicide are MST connected (VA Annual Report)

• Help women Veterans facing homelessness, domestic violence, or crisis find appropriate resources and safer options.

• 47% of the homeless woman veteran population are MST connected (VA Annual Reort)

• Promote suicide prevention through early recognition, peer connection, and compassionate outreach.

• Connect women Veterans with trusted VA and community partners through advocacy, navigation, and warm referrals.

Because surviving military service should never mean facing life's hardest battles alone.

Community & Recognition

• Host the annual Women Veterans Day (State Holiday) Also known as Women Veterans Recognition/ Appreciation Day Expo on June 12, honoring the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act of 1948.

• Pennsylvania recognized June 12 as Women Veterans Day November 3, 2022 (PAHB2361); the U.S. Senate nationally acknowledged it as Women Veterans Recognition Day in July of 2023 (SR2203).

• These efforts raise awareness of women veterans’ service and the unique challenges they face.

Our Mission & Vision

Mission: To support, educate, and advocate for women veterans facing cancer, MST, homelessness, suicide risk, domestic/ intimate partner violence and final expense burdens. We strive to ensure every woman veteran receives the compassion, care, and resources to live with dignity and hope. 

Vision: To be there for all female veterans when they need us.

• Too often, critical resources exist, but the women who need them most struggle to find or access them.

• That is why we created THE TJCC BLUE BOOK™ — a comprehensive Pennsylvania resource guide designed to connect women Veterans and families with benefits, crisis services, and life-changing support.
