Service Dogs Change Lives

Service dogs give people the confidence to live more independently and do things they didn’t think were possible. These dogs change lives.

“Life before SSD Cricket was lonely. I would spend lots of time in my house alone, only seeing my wife and never interacting with people beyond her because I couldn’t drive,” said Heather Campbell, partnered with SSD Cricket. “Cricket has turned my life upside down in the best ways. Two months after I got him, I went out all by myself for the first time since I started having seizures. I took myself out for my birthday, and Cricket and I had a great day at Barnes and Noble. I got my driver’s license last year. I went from not being able to leave my house to owning a small pet store, and Cricket is with me every single day I’m there. Cricket has made my life infinitely more whole.”

When you donate to Susquehanna Service Dogs, you’re making partnerships like the one between Heather and SSD Cricket possible. You’re helping to change lives!

Mission

A program of Keystone Human Services, Susquehanna Service Dogs breeds, raises, trains, and places service dogs and hearing dogs, as well as facility dogs, to assist children and adults, including veterans, to lead the lives they want to live.

We work hard to match people and dogs to form a successful partnership and follow each team for the working life of the dog and through the dog’s retirement. Whether our assistance dogs are retrieving dropped items or helping their partners navigate a crowded store, they’re assisting their partners to live full, rich, meaningful lives.
