Red Creek Wildlife Center

Red Creek Wildlife Center may be based in Schuylkill County, but we proudly serve communities across Pennsylvania, including Lancaster County. About 10% of the 4,000+ wild animals we admit each year come from Lancaster County.

One example this summer was a Black-crowned Night Heron nestling found in Ephrata. This endangered species in Pennsylvania was displaced from its family. After two months of specialized care at Red Creek, it grew strong, learned to fend for itself, and was successfully released back into the wild.

Our work is unique in Pennsylvania:

  • We never close our doors due to capacity. When other wildlife centers must pause admissions, Red Creek has the facilities, staffing, and expertise to take the overflow. Every animal gets a chance.

  • We mentor and support other rehabilitators. In fact, two licensed wildlife rehabilitators in Lancaster County got their start with Red Creek’s guidance.

  • We specialize in giving second chances. From the smallest songbirds to endangered species, we are committed to helping wildlife return to the wild where they belong.

By supporting Red Creek during the Extra Give, you are not just helping wildlife in Schuylkill County—you are helping wildlife across Pennsylvania, including right here in Lancaster County.

Our Mission:

To offer a second chance to distressed Pennsylvania wildlife
through rescue and rehabilitation, public education,
and by providing training for wildlife rehabilitators.
