New Person Ministries has been providing transitional housing for men returning from incarceration into society for almost 20 years. Our mission is to bring healing and restoration through Jesus Christ to those affected by incarceration by providing care of returning citizens and their families through housing, social service assistance and spiritual guidance.
Our vision is to holistically meet the needs of men as they transition from incarceration back into the community. We desire to be a place where our men are spiritually fed and cared for while they are in our residential program and to continue to be a place for spiritual guidance when they leave. We seek to be obedient to Jesus Christ and to follow the nudges of the Holy Spirit in all we do.
We desire to be a safe haven where men returning from prison into society are assisted in connecting with their community and social services, finding meaningful employment, locating long term housing, and preparing to reenter society. We recognize the effect of incarceration and crime on communities and families. In light of this, we desire to be a tool of reconciliation between men and their families and their communities. We desire to be a place where returning citizens can find connection and where the broader community can find resources to help facilitate cultures of reconciliation.
This past year, we remodeled a few bedrooms at our Reading location which now provides much more living space and creates more of an effort to feel like a home. We are hopeful that we will break ground in our new Lancaster building in 2025. In addition, we have revamped our program to include more life skills and have continued to focus on community.
New Person Ministries has been assisting returning citizens with safe and appropriate housing since its beginning in 2004. For the past 20 years, New Person Ministries has worked with over 700 men in a safe and welcoming transitional house. In 2016, NPM opened a house in Lancaster and was able to purchase our own place in 2018.
Our mission is to bring healing and restoration through Jesus Christ to those affected by incarceration by providing care of returning citizens and their families through housing, social service assistance and Christian discipleship.
