What if you had a chance, as a 7th or 8th grader, to go "behind the scenes" to see how many of the products we use every day are created? And then you got to work with your classmates to create and promote a video about your experience? And what if that video were entered into a regional contest that your team could win, and if you won, then you would compete with other schools across the state to become a State Champion team?! That would be pretty cool for middle school!

The "What's So Cool About Manufacturing?" manufacturing career exploration program provides all of this and more. The program also develops students’ ability to work together as a team through this immersive experience that involves videography, editing, and marketing. It gives teachers the opportunity to show how what they're teaching connects to the real world. It engages parents and the business community in important workforce development initiatives that impact our future. Manufacturing is a key industry in Lancaster County's economic growth. It provides well-paying jobs for people with high school diplomas through advanced degrees, and we want young people to learn first-hand that there's a place in the 21st century manufacturing industry for them.

We're raising funds so we can provide all of the supplies, equipment, training, transportation, and recognition needed for the student teams. The program is open to any public or private school in Lancaster County.
