Founded in 2020, Lancaster Friends School (LFS) was born out of a leading from Quaker Friends with a mission to create a school in Lancaster with social justice at its core. At LFS, we know that learners learn best when they feel safe, valued, and loved. LFS uses an expeditionary learning (learning through exploring) philosophy that includes learning through inquiry, reflection, collaboration, and service. Our child-centered, query-based curriculum promotes critical thinking skills, respectful discussion and group work, reflection, and connection to the broader community and world.

Your monetary contributions to LFS will make a joyful, challenging and holistic educational program grounded in Quaker values available to students at an affordable price.  Donations to LFS are used to support the educational program, enriched after school care, and scholarships for students whose caregivers demonstrate financial need.

Mission

Lancaster Friends School celebrates childhood, community, and the inherent value and dignity of every person. We provide a joyful, challenging and holistic educational program grounded in Quaker values, spirituality and discernment of truth. Students develop strong academic and social skills, mindful self-awareness, and intense personal interests in order to participate in our diverse and complex world and build inclusive, just and peaceful communities.
