At Lancaster Farm Sanctuary, we are often the last line of defense for animals who have nowhere else to go. When Bethany the sheep was shot in the leg and left to suffer for months untreated, we gave her care.  When Willa the pig was locked in a shed with excrement up to her neck, we took her in and gave her a warm bed. When Hazel the cow was so badly abused her trachea was crushed and her body was covered in wounds, we saved her life and gave her a forever home. For these animals and so many more there is rarely another option.

Who we are

Lancaster Farm Sanctuary rescues farmed animals in need and provides them with lifelong, loving care. Each rescue is a second chance: an opportunity to heal, grow, and live freely in safety and peace. We are the only organization of this kind in Lancaster County.

Our mission is to rescue and protect farmed animals, provide them with sanctuary, and inspire humans to live with compassion and respect for all beings. Through education, community outreach, and collaboration with local organizations, we strive to reduce animal suffering and build a kinder, more sustainable world.

At Lancaster Farm Sanctuary, we recognize that the issues of animal exploitation, social injustice, human health, and environmental degradation are deeply connected. By modeling compassionate living and offering opportunities for people to engage—through tours, volunteering, and community programs—we create meaningful change that uplifts both human and nonhuman members of our shared community.

At Lancaster Farm Sanctuary, every rescue begins with an animal in need; a horse suffering from years of abuse, a piglet left to die on an auction house floor, a hen falling from a transport truck onto the highway. We give them the safety, care, and love they deserve for life.

Through their stories, our community is reminded of the individuality, intelligence, and emotion that these animals hold.
