One in 700 children are born with a cleft. These babies can face struggles to feed, hear, speak, and so much more. The Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic (LCPC) makes sure these children can have a bright future.
Since 1938, LCPC has served the complex healthcare needs of individuals with cleft lip/palate and other craniofacial differences from infancy through adulthood. The Clinic also cares for the dental, audiological, and speech needs of medically and behaviorally complex children.
LCPC pioneered the holistic team approach to cleft treatment that is the standard of care worldwide. Our team of dedicated providers includes plastic surgeons, ENTs, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, feeding specialists, pediatric specialists, dentists, orthodontists, and social workers. The Clinic is the only independent non-profit comprehensive cleft center in the nation, serving children and families from Lancaster and 44 surrounding counties.
Life-transforming cleft treatment starts at birth and can continue through early adulthood, often costing up to $1,000,000 before insurance reimbursement. Children with cleft qualify for state insurance, but, unfortunately, reimbursements do not cover the full cost of treatment. LCPC relies on our generous community, along with state and federal funding, to make patient care possible. It is part of LCPC's mission to accept every child for care, regardless of their ability to pay.
Thank you for helping our patients along their journey to bright smiles!
