Imani Edu-Tainers African Dance Company

A nonprofit organization

The Imani Edu-Tainers African Dance Company (Imani) was established in 1992 to provide training, education and cultural enrichment in African traditions, with an emphasis on family participation. Imani offers African dance and drumming classes and other cultural enrichment activities through its community-based arts education programs. Imani's performance ensemble consists of drummers and dancers from every age group provided they meet the minimum of one year of participation in community classes. The performance ensemble travels throughout the region to entertain and educate groups of any size. Imani also offers three specialized programs for youth with an emphasis on meeting the needs of traditionally underserved populations: a hands on Arts in Residency program for local schools, the traditional Rites of Passage program Mate Masie for adolescent girls, and Project AYA which is designed to combat childhood and adolescent obesity in Lancaster.
