The Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley (HSCV) was established in 1957 to gather and preserve historical materials associated with the 10 northeastern municipalities in Lancaster County, to conduct a public library, and to make our facilities available for study and research. Our campus, located at 237-249 West Main Street in Ephrata consists of two main buildings -- a three-story Italianate-style mansion containing a 13-room museum of artifacts unique to the Cocalico Valley and a 1929-era Tudor-style research library housing an extensive collection of family, church and cemetery records, more than 20,000 original and scanned searchable photographs and numerous other documents and ephemera related to the area. A professional librarian is available to assist visitors on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Mission

We are dedicated to discovering, gathering and preserving materials and data relative to the community known as the Cocalico Valley. All items in the museum collection were either made in the Cocalico Valley or were used by and/or owned by people living in the area. The Cocalico Valley encompasses ten municipalities in Northern Lancaster County — the Boroughs of Adamstown, Akron, Denver, and Ephrata and the Townships of East and West Cocalico, Clay, Ephrata, West Earl, and a portion of Earl.
