When you contribute to EASS, you're providing direct support to your neighbors in need. Through our 4 core programs, we aim to EDUCATE the community, FIGHT hunger, and ENRICH lives.

The core programs include:

• Free transportation to grocery stores, doctor's appointments, and other others.
• Food pantry-Set up similar to a grocery store, people can come in and "shop" for items at no cost.
• Meals on Wheels - Ephrata and Cocalico-Connecting seniors and home-bound neighbors to nutritious meals while providing a quick safety check, up to 5 days a week. 
• Community Support Services- individualized case management 

Together, these initiatives deliver 3,500 services each month to the Northern Lancaster County community. 

Stories of Hope from Our Neighbors 

In Northern Lancaster County, transportation can be a barrier to basic needs like medical appointments and groceries. That’s why our EASS Transportation Program provides free, reliable, door-to-door rides to help neighbors stay connected and independent.

For Marshall, it means being able to visit his wife Sandy in the senior home where she now lives. He only gets to see her twice a week, but those are moments he treasures. Marshall shared, “We’d be lost without you (EASS).”

EASS spends $700–$800 a month on gas, nearly $10,000 a year. Just $25 provides two rides for someone like Marshall.

Meet Gordon and Dot, who have been receiving Meals on Wheels from Ephrata Area Social Services (EASS) for over a year. For Dot, the experience has come full circle—years ago, she was part of a volunteer group that helped establish the Meals on Wheels program in the Philadelphia area.
