The Demuth Foundation operates two art museums in the heart of downtown Lancaster, the Demuth Museum and the Lancaster Museum of Art. The Demuth Foundation works to promote the appreciation and awareness of the visual arts in Lancaster through exhibitions, collections, educational programs, and public outreach. Our vision is an inspired community where all recognize their inherent creativity and the arts foster a dialogue to enhance the quality of life in Lancaster.
Each year, our art museums:
- Welcome over 10,000 visitors
- Serve over 2,200 people through educational and outreach programs
- Mount 15+ special exhibitions
- Maintain the largest collection of original Charles Demuth artwork in the world
- Showcase over 600 works by local artists and students
- Offer curriculum and other resources for local educators, reaching hundreds of students
- Provide 30+ workshops, gallery talks, guided tours, and other learning and engagement opportunities
Our museums are always “admission by donation" and most of our programs are free or low cost, providing accessible and meaningful art experiences to thousands. No other local art museum offers this type of community outreach on a continuous basis throughout the year and we're proud to serve Lancaster and beyond.
