The Conestoga Valley Education Foundation (CVEF) is an organization formed in 1991 to encourage creativity and educational excellence in the classrooms of Conestoga Valley School District. The Foundation is not a part of the school district but supports the efforts of the district to educate the children of our community. The Foundation raises funds and awards grants to teachers, students, or community members that will enrich the lives of CV students. Grants are awarded to fund projects that are outside the normal scope of the school budget and would not be funded through the district’s budgetary process. The Foundation is a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Since its inception, the CVEF has awarded grants at a total of over two million dollars. Over the past few years, CVEF has fostered a special focus for grants in the following STEA2M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Agriculture, and Math) areas, including a Freight Farm hydroponics facility at the HS, a refurbishment of the HS grand piano, a self-sustaining solar project at the MS, and the installation of the complete remains of an actual dinosaur (donated by an alumnus) in the MS lobby. Last year, CVEF dedicated the second of four elementary STEM labs (a $100,000+ project) for our Smoketown students in memory of former Leola principal and CVEF executive director Beverly Breniser. All grants must adhere to the Foundation’s mission to encourage creativity and innovation in the classrooms of Conestoga Valley School District. Other major projects funded include state-of-the-art television studios at both the MS and HS. Elementary projects funded have involved parent resource centers in each school, many reading and classroom projects, and technology enhancements for each school. The Foundation has also funded many small classroom projects that would otherwise not have been offered to CV students.
Please consider including CVEF in your annual giving during the ExtraGive to assist us in realizing such exciting projects! If we can bring a real dinosaur to our new MS lobby, with help from you and from strong community partners like the High Companies, Orrstown Bank, and Clark Associates, we can certainly collaborate on even greater things!
To promote the growth and success of Conestoga Valley youth by providing resources to enrich their current learning opportunities, values, well-being and cultural experiences with the support of teachers, staff and community members.
