With more than 4,200 adoptions, Centerville Pet Rescue (CPR) has grown from a small, all-volunteer effort into a community-supported organization dedicated to helping cats and kittens throughout Lancaster and the surrounding region. Double Your Impact for Animals in Need During the ExtraGive!
We are thrilled to announce that The Irving and Phyllis Millstein Foundation for Animal Welfare has generously awarded Centerville Pet Rescue a $15,000 matching grant for this year’s ExtraGive! Thanks to this incredible support, donations made to Centerville Pet Rescue during the full 24 hours of ExtraGive on November 20, 2026, will be matched dollar for dollar, up to a total of $15,000. That means your gift of $25 becomes $50, $100 becomes $200, and together we have the opportunity to raise $30,000 to help cats and kittens in need.
The Foundation's matching grant will support veterinary services and medical supplies for animals in CPR's care. The donations raised during the ExtraGive will help support our ongoing rescue, shelter, and adoption efforts.

Meet Disco Rice: A Little Kitten with a Big PersonalityWhen Disco Rice arrived at CPR, this little kitten faced a serious injury requiring surgery and a partial tail amputation. Thanks to CPR's veterinary team and community support, she received the treatment she needed and made a wonderful recovery. Soon, Disco Rice was charming everyone around her. She even became a fundraising ambassador at That Cat Day, where supporters donated $5 for the opportunity to cuddle with her. Disco Rice raised $310 in cuddle sessions! Her story reminds us that animals arriving with serious medical needs have so much life, love, and personality waiting to shine through. She's just one of many cats and kittens given a second chance through compassionate care and community generosity. |
Medical Care That Makes Second Chances PossibleNot every animal arrives at CPR healthy and ready for adoption. Some need emergency surgery. Others suffer from infections, injuries, malnutrition, or conditions requiring weeks or months of treatment. Our team has cared for kittens requiring amputations, cats needing complex surgeries, and animals whose recovery depends on specialized veterinary care and experienced medical fosters. Every case is different, and not every outcome is certain. But each animal deserves compassionate treatment and the best opportunity we can provide. As CPR grows, so does our commitment to meeting the medical needs of animals in our care. With dedicated veterinary professionals, experienced medical staff, and foster families, we're strengthening our ability to help animals with challenging medical needs. The People Behind the Happy Endings CPR's success depends on more than medical treatment. Our network of more than 100 volunteers helps with fostering, transportation, adoption counseling, daily care, and countless other responsibilities. Volunteers like Donna and her daughter Jana demonstrate that dedication. Together, they foster newborn kittens, assist with spay/neuter clinics, and help make adoption days possible. Our foster families provide safe homes where animals can grow, heal, and learn to trust. Our adoption team carefully matches cats with families based on their individual personalities and needs. Our goal isn't simply to complete adoptions. It's to create lasting relationships that benefit both animals and their new families. |

In addition to providing space for our adoption center, That Fish Place – That Pet Place generously provides medical facilities for surgeries and treatments, along with office space for our staff — all at no cost to CPR. Combined with our foster-based approach, this partnership helps us avoid substantial facility expenses and direct more resources toward animal care, medical treatment, and adoption services. |

Giving Activity
Mission
Centerville Pet Rescue (CPR), rescues, cares for and finds homes for animals in need. Our organization consists of a network of volunteers that support a coordinated effort to help animals in Lancaster County and the surrounding region. Our goal is to see that every adoptable pet has a home, while also seeking to tackle the pet overpopulation problem and reduce the number of animals entering shelters. We work to help eliminate the need to euthanize adoptable pets in our community. CPR performs many services related to our charitable purpose. In addition to the rescue, care and adoption of animals, CPR also assists with emergency medical care, spay/neuter, microchip clinics and placement for special needs animals.
