Centerville Pet Rescue

A nonprofit organization

As you look across the banner above...

filled with smiling faces and some newly adopted cats — you’re seeing the heart of our mission come to life. Every joyful photo represents a story made possible by people like you. Because of your support, Centerville Pet Rescue has grown from a small, all-volunteer effort into a community-powered lifeline for cats across Lancaster County. Together we’ve celebrated more than 3,800 adoptions, cheered on shy kittens as they found their courage, and helped senior and special-needs cats get the second chances they deserve. With over 100 volunteers fostering, transporting, counseling adopters, and opening our adoption room, Centerville Pet Rescue is compassion in motion — every day.

Volunteers like Donna and her daughter Jana — a mother-daughter team who foster newborn kittens, assist with spay/neuter clinics, and bring joy to adoption days — show exactly what your support makes possible. Their dedication, and yours, is the heart of Centerville Pet Rescue.

Patches

Our focus...

is primarily on cats and kittens because that’s where our community’s need is greatest. Our foster-based model keeps stress low and care personal. Every cat receives thoughtful, individualized support — from wellness exams, vaccinations, and microchipping to spay/neuter and medical treatment when it’s needed most. Cats like Patches, who came to us as a tiny kitten rescued from underneath a recliner and later required delicate surgery for a head injury, remind us what compassion can do. Thanks to our veterinary team, her foster family, and community support, Patches healed beautifully and now thrives in her forever home — a playful, loving spirit surrounded by her new feline and canine friends. When each cat is ready, our team works hard to make lasting matches, guiding adopters and offering follow-up support so every placement has the best chance to succeed.

Our unique partnership...

with That Fish Place – That Pet Place is at the heart of our success. In addition to hosting our adoption center where families can meet their new companions, That Fish Place – That Pet Place generously provides Centerville Pet Rescue with medical space for surgeries and treatments, along with office space for our support staff — all at no cost. This arrangement means we avoid the crushing overhead of running a traditional shelter facility and can put more of every donation directly into what matters most: saving lives, providing medical care, and supporting our fosters and adopters.

Your Gift Today Fuels What Comes Next

Your gift makes all the difference:

  • Saying “yes” to more urgent intakes and complicated medical cases

  • Expanding foster capacity and volunteer training so we can help faster and better

  • Building out our adoption and medical space to serve more cats with excellence and dignity

  • Sharing more success stories that inspire our neighbors to adopt, foster, and give

We know you have choices. That’s why we work with transparency and care. Centerville Pet Rescue holds Candid’s Gold Seal of Transparency, and our lean, volunteer-driven approach keeps resources focused where they matter most — the cats. When you give, you aren’t funding overhead; you’re supplying formula for neonates, antibiotics for the sick, spay/neuter for prevention, and the comfort items that turn a kennel into a safe place to heal.

Most of all, you’re investing in joy: the first purr in a quiet foster room, the moment a family meets “their” cat, the update that arrives weeks later with a photo of a once-abandoned kitten asleep in a sunbeam. Those moments exist because people like you decided that every life is worth the effort.

If you’ve donated before: thank you. You made the 3,800th adoption possible — and the 3,801st, too. If you’re renewing your support today, you’ll help write the next chapter: more rescues, more recoveries, more “happily ever afters” here in Lancaster County.

Giving Activity

Mission

Centerville Pet Rescue (CPR), rescues, cares for and finds homes for animals in need. Our organization consists of a network of volunteers that support a coordinated effort to help animals in Lancaster County and the surrounding region. Our goal is to see that every adoptable pet has a home, while also seeking to tackle the pet overpopulation problem and reduce the number of animals entering shelters. We work to help eliminate the need to euthanize adoptable pets in our community. CPR performs many services related to our charitable purpose. In addition to the rescue, care and adoption of animals, CPR also assists with emergency medical care, spay/neuter, microchip clinics and placement for special needs animals.
