For twenty years, CeaseFirePA has led Pennsylvania toward a life free from gun violence. Mass shootings should be relics of the past. Kids should play in the park without worrying about running from bullets. We should all be able to learn, pray, and work feeling and being safe. Unfortunately, every 5 hours, someone dies from a gun in Pennsylvania. And, firearms are now the number one cause of death for children.

In the last few years, we’ve won over $300 million for community-based violence reduction programs, built new public health partnerships, and advanced life-saving policies. Our movement gains support every day as we take on the gun extremists.

This is a long fight, we cannot afford to lose. 

Our new strategic plan builds on a history of leading a Pennsylvania-based movement to end gun violence:

  • Unifying the citizens around a Common Agenda to End Gun Violence that will save lives in every part of PA.
  • Equipping doctors, nurses and surgeons to speak up and demand life-saving laws.
  • Empowering survivors share their stories to illustrate how policy gaps are costing lives.
  • Building a grassroots movement that ensure elected officials must support solutions, and holding them accountable when they stand against us.

    Change is possible. Together, we saved lives through these strategic initiatives:

    • Passed two bipartisan life-saving bills in the PA House, with more on the way. 
    • Initiated local gun dealer inspections to prevent trafficking.
    • Mounted a historic challenge at the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to allow local communities to enact reasonable, life-saving policies.
    • Launched the Common Agenda Coalition with 150+ partners focused on a suite of gun safety policies.
    • Secured than $300 million for local violence prevention programs
    • Coordinated the largest advocacy day in Harrisburg with more than 500 people.
    • Created a new storytelling initiative, Deadly By Design, to help survivors illustrate how specific gun-safety solutions would have saved their loved ones.
